People who don’t believe in God are fools, the Bible says. But doesn’t it also say that believing in God seems to be foolish? So everyone ends up coming across as foolish, according the the Bible.

The Bible does say, “A fool says there is no God.” Which I’m sure they will feel when they stand before God on Judgment Day and they realize they were wrong. And yes, Paul said it was better for us to be fools for believing in Christ, but I’m sure that he was responding to the fact that then like now people thought that believers were crazy for believing that a man could be crucified and yet raise from the dead, and thus they were just foolish in their thinking. But then again those who don’t believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus have it easy…they just don’t believe and ignore the truth in the number of witnesses that saw him after he rose from the dead. It is far harder to be a believer, because our society will give us all kinds of reasons that it is impossible for Jesus to be the Messiah and Son of God. Most Christians have gone through a lot of study, rationalizing, and soul searching to come to what they believe in Jesus, and it is a journey that does not end until we are in heaven with him. To me that isn’t foolish, that is being a student to one of the greatest teachers who ever lived. We continue to learn from God’s Word, from experiences in witnessing, from worshipping and spending time in prayer. A fool would not take the time to do any of that, they would just repeat what the world says is true and not care what God says is true. But, as Paul, if they want to think me a fool for believing in Jesus Christ, let them. In the end all will know the truth, and all will know who was truly foolish.

The Bible is not just a statement of faith, but a chronicle of history that the world has not yet chosen to acknowledge. One day when all stand before God, many who thought they knew more than the Bible, or thought the Bible nonfactual will find that they were foolish in that belief. Only God knows the true intent of His Word, and if God tells me it is so, then I am going to trust Him over any man with human failings. I was not speaking of the mention of the graves of others opening up, but the most important one…the tomb where Jesus Christ was laid. As for witnesses, there were many in that upper room that he appeared to, besides the 2 on the road, and around 5 women who went to the tomb on the 3rd day, and then close to 500 at the Sea of Galilee. As for accepting someone’s commentary on the Bible, I believe that is one man’s opinion and can be twisted to fit what they believe. I tend to avoid man’s opinion and listen to God’s truth.
