Burdens Cast on Him (Spurgeon’s Faith’s Checkbook)

14 Jul

From Charles Spurgeon’s “Faith’s Checkbook”
Burdens Cast on Him
July 14
Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22)

It is a heavy burden; roll it on Omnipotence. It is thy burden now, and it crushes thee; but when the Lord takes it, He will make nothing of it. If thou art called still to bear, “he will sustain thee.” It will be on Him and not on thee. Thou wilt be so upheld under it that the burden will be a blessing. Bring the Lord into the matter, and thou wilt stand upright under that which in itself would bow thee down.
Our worst fear is lest our trial should drive us from the path of duty; but this the Lord will never suffer. If we are righteous before Him, He will not endure that our affliction should move us from our standing. In Jesus He accepts us as righteous, and in Jesus He will keep us so.
What about the present moment? Art thou going forth to this day’s trial alone? Are thy poor shoulders again to be galled with the oppressive load? Be not so foolish. Tell the Lord all about thy grief and leave it with Him. Don’t cast your burden down and then take it up again; but roll it on the Lord and leave it there. Then shalt thou walk at large, a joyful and unburdened believer, singing the praises of thy great Burden-bearer.

Bonita! oh I am so glad to be reading your posts again! I feel like life is back and better than ever.
I am going on a business trip to Chicago this week. Please pray for me that I will remain healthy, that I will listen well, that my group will be received well and that we will have the discernment to decide at the end of our meetings, who exactly of the 10 firms we want to continue to do business with. There is such a thing as being spread too thin right now. And too, you have to have sources from which to recruit, so everybody can’t be a client. I like everyone we are calling on, but sometimes their process or lack of timely responses keep us from doing what I call excellent search.
That is my goal-to provide excellent searches for the best attorneys that God has pointed out to us. Only He knows the hearts of people and their needs-even better than they do-and what they will need in the future, if He continues to delay His coming. Based on what He gives us, I can be sure that I am walking rightly in the path He has planned for me and helping those He would have me to
help. when am doing this “in the Lord” it works so beautifully. But if I go off on my own, not so much.
So you can see exactly why I need your prayers. I lead a team of 4(incl me). I really, really have to be up and on my path every day to do the job He has set for me to do.

Cindy, I have been gone for a long while dealing with personal and family health issues. I’m going to try and start posting again, but this will probably be more of my own writings dealing with Christianity and Christ as I haven’t found a devotional yet that speaks to my heart and my spiritual journey yet. I probably won’t be doing a daily posts though as I still have some serious health issues to deal with. I do want you to know though that when I am on any site, even facebook and I see your name I stop and say a prayer for you and any need I may not know about.
