The Throne of Grace

Jesus is our High Priest, who paid the sacrifice

for our sins with his own blood.

Heb 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

What a blessed assurance that we get from these verses in Hebrews!  To think that Jesus paid the price for our sins, so that we might have forgiveness from all of them.  In doing this Jesus became our High Priest, and because of this we can now come boldly before His Throne of Grace to seek mercy and grace.  All you have to do to be worthy of this is believe in the Lord jesus Christ, believe that he died for your sins, was buried and rose again to go to Heaven and prepare a place for us.  Becoming a Child of God is simple, but I warn you being a Christian isn’t the easiest life.  First of all, you enter the life as a babe born again through his forgiveness.  Then just like a child you need to mature in your new life.  You can’t do this without putting off the past and the sin that entangled you.  You can’t do this unless your are willing to make that relationship with Jesus a closer one.  This takes discipline that you need to find in yourself.  You need to read the Bible daily, commit God’s Word to your heart, and speak to him daily in prayer.  Most of all you need to be willing to listen to God speak to you.  That is the only way to fight off the temptation that will come your way, and the attacks from Satan that will come your way as well.  The Bible is a book filled with comforting passages, wise teaching, and promises that God will never break.  It is one of the way God communicates with us, gives us advice, and shows us the way we should go.  Prayer is the way we come before that Throne of Grace for help from our Heavenly Father, and lay our needs, troubles, and hopes at his feet.  I know there are those who thinks this is all a fairy tale, but I can tell you that I have lived on both sides of the fence as a nonChristian and then as a Christian, and I know for a fact that it isn’t a fairy tale at all.  Of all the books of prophecy the Bible is the only book that has come true 100% of the time, with more of those prophecies unfolding daily.  All the prophecies about the Messiah in it, were answered in one man…Jesus of Nazareth, who is the Messiah.  Daily sciences like archeology, biology, astronomy and others are proving things in the Bible true.  But as a Christian we don’t need this truth, because we live by faith.  It is through this faith that we learn to trust the Lord, and hope for those things that he has promised.  There are people that believe in the Bible and go to church, but they have never taken the time to truly ask Jesus for forgiveness of their sins, nor do they have a personal relationship with Jesus.  They call themselves Christians, go through the motions and all as far as church goes.  These are the ones living Christianity as a religion, who unless they seek that personal relationship will be surprised when they are left behind when the Rapture happens.  You also have others who take the step of accepting Jesus as their Savior, but that is as far as it goes.  They do not seek a true relationship with him, and figure that one step is enough.  They don’t continue on the walk with Christ.  They continue to live for the world, and claim Christianity as their religion.  True Christianity isn’t a religion, it is a personal relationship and a constant walk with Jesus.  Yes, you are going to fail sometimes, but then you go back to Christ to help you get back on the right path.  One of the things people miss is the part of Jesus teachings when he told people he had forgiven to “go and sin no more.”  They live Christianity as a simple religion and not the personal relationship that it truly is.  These are the people that most others judge Christianity on, but the truth is they aren’t true Christians.  A true Christian isn’t about the pomp and circumstance at church, or about continuing to live as the world does.  True Christianity, once again, is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, knowing him as your God and Savior, seeking his will in your life and not your own will, and speding time with him every chance you get during the day.  He is your High Priest, your brother, father, shepherd, bridegroom, and everything to you.  When you have this true relationship, coming to that Throne of Grace is like coming home every day.  It is the most precious, warm place you can be, and with Jesus in your life you will never, ever be alone again!
